Terror Alert: Blast Hits Woro, Kaiama LGA in Kwara State
Early Monday morning, a bomb explosion struck Woro in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, raising serious security concerns.
The exact number of casualties remains unclear as authorities continue assessing the situation. The incident comes just weeks after deadly attacks in neighboring communities, which had prompted intervention from the Federal Government. In February, Vice President Kashim Shettima visited Kaiama LGA to console victims of terrorist attacks in Nuku and Woro, pledging renewed efforts to restore peace.
During that visit, Shettima conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to stabilizing the region, including deploying a Nigerian Army battalion and providing emergency support through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in collaboration with the state government. Local authorities, including Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, confirmed that security forces had been mobilized under Operation Savannah Shield.
Monday’s explosion has renewed fears among residents, casting doubt on the effectiveness of recent security measures and highlighting the fragile state of peace in the affected communities.
