FCT Minister Wike Inspects Key Projects, Targets May Completion for Commissioning by President Tinubu
By Urube Peter, Abuja
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has carried out an inspection of major road infrastructure projects across the FCT, reiterating the administration’s commitment to delivering quality projects within set timelines.
The projects inspected include the N16 dual carriageway, the Airport Road–Kuje junction stretch, and the first phase of the Kuje–Gwagwalada road. These projects are scheduled for commissioning in May by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of activities marking his third anniversary in office.
Wike expressed satisfaction with both the pace and standard of work, describing the contractors’ performance as highly impressive. He noted that continuous monitoring would remain a priority to ensure sustained progress, stressing that governance must deliver tangible benefits to residents.
He also commended the contractor for promptly addressing the collapse of a temporary bridge along the alternative link road between Kuje and Gwagwalada, which was caused by heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Minister dismissed allegations by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who claimed that Wike was planted to undermine the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Wike described the claims as embarrassing and hypocritical, arguing that those making such accusations are the ones defecting or aligning with other political parties.
“The accusation of me being planted – all those who accused me are now in the APC. So, who now has told the truth?” Wike said. “If they accuse me of being an agent to destroy the party, and they have now left for the APC, who then is the real agent?”
