Federal Government declares April 3 and 6 as public holidays to mark Easter celebration nationwide.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Easter celebration.


The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government, extending congratulations to Christians in Nigeria and across the diaspora on the occasion of Easter.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to embrace the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love, as demonstrated in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
He also called on citizens to remain committed to the principles of tolerance and unity that strengthen the nation.
The minister reiterated that the government remains focused on policies that will foster national renewal, economic growth, and shared prosperity for all.
He further wished Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
