Trending 394 UTME Result From Cross River Candidate Declared Fake by JAMB
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has debunked a widely circulated result slip claiming that a candidate from Cross River State scored 394 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), describing it as fake.
The result, which gained traction on social media platform X, was shared by a user identified as @Onsogbu. The post alleged that a female candidate, Okon Winniefred Sampson, achieved an impressive score of 394 out of 400.
According to the post, the candidate reportedly scored 96 in Use of English, 99 in Biology, 98 in Chemistry, and 99 in Physics, a performance described as exceptional.
However, in a statement issued on Sunday, JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, dismissed the result as fabricated and urged the public to ignore it.
“A purported result slip currently being circulated, claiming that a candidate scored 394 in the 2026 UTME, is entirely fake. It is surprising that such a fabrication is being shared by otherwise well-informed Nigerians,” the statement read.
Benjamin clarified that UTME results are strictly view-only and are not meant to be printed or shared in such formats, noting that the circulated document was generated using a fake template.
“Firstly, the Board has clearly stated that UTME results are view-only. The circulated document appears on a fabricated result template, which clearly indicates that it is not authentic,” he explained.
He further noted that the registration number on the alleged result does not correspond with JAMB’s official system-generated format.
“Secondly, the Board’s registration numbers are system-generated and do not follow the pattern ‘20269’ as seen on the fake slip. There are several inconsistencies that easily reveal the result as fraudulent,” he added.
JAMB advised the public to rely only on official channels for accurate information, reiterating that all UTME results remain view-only for now.
“The public is strongly advised to disregard this fake result and rely only on official channels for accurate information. All results at the moment are view-only,” Benjamin stated.
