A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has remanded 11 men for 30 days over an alleged plan to disrupt Saturday’s APC House of Representatives primary election in Ekiti North Federal Constituency II.

Chief Magistrate Adeosun granted the remand order on Friday following an ex-parte application filed by the Ekiti State Police Command.
According to the police, the suspects are being held at the Ado Ekiti Correctional Centre while investigations continue into allegations bordering on conspiracy and political violence.
The suspects were earlier paraded at the Ekiti State Police Headquarters on Friday.
Court documents indicated that the suspects allegedly confessed during interrogation that they were sponsored by Rep. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole, who currently represents Ekiti North Federal Constituency II. Police authorities, however, stated that investigations into the allegation are still ongoing.
Counsel to the prosecution, ASP Oriyomi and S.O. Osobu Esq., informed the court that the remand order became necessary under Sections 264(1) and (2) of the Ekiti State Administration of Criminal Justice Law to enable the police conclude investigations.
The defendants are Adekunle Stephen, Adepoju Adebayo, Boluwaji Ishola, Oluwatobi Adeoluwa, Akintunde Emmanuel, Adewale Makanjuola, Ibitola Babatope, Abanikanda Sikiru, Dayo Ibijowo, Ajayi Dele, and Adegbite Damola.
Magistrate Adeosun subsequently adjourned the matter until June 16, 2026, for further mention.
The arrests and subsequent remand followed an earlier police operation in Ikun-Ekiti during which firearms, ammunition, and vehicles were reportedly recovered.
Meanwhile, Governor Biodun Oyebanji had earlier suspended Dayo Ibijowo, one of the suspects remanded by the court, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
