Ganduje Dumps APC Camp, Picks NDC Reps Form in Kano

Abdulaziz Umar Ganduje, the eldest son of former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has secured the nomination form to contest for the House of Representatives under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Abdulaziz is contesting to represent the Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency of Kano State.
Despite his father’s strong political ties with the APC, Abdulaziz has remained committed to the Kwankwasiyya political movement over the years.
A viral video making rounds online captured him in a meeting with former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso shortly after obtaining the nomination form. During the discussion, he was said to have informed Kwankwaso about his political ambition and readiness for the upcoming election.
The development introduces a fresh dimension to the long-standing political rivalry between Ganduje and Kwankwaso, two major political figures in Kano whose relationship turned sour years after working together politically.
Abdulaziz has repeatedly distanced himself from his father’s political camp and has openly maintained his loyalty to the Kwankwasiyya movement.
His political stance became more prominent after a controversial dispute involving his mother, Professor Hafsat Umar Ganduje, whom he once petitioned to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged failed agreement.
He is now vying for the same House of Representatives seat his brother, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, contested for under the APC during the 2023 general election but lost to the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), despite their father being the serving governor at the time.
