Officers of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board (KSHB), an agency operating under the State Ministry of Religious Affairs, have arrested a married woman and five other individuals during a hotel raid over alleged immoral conduct.

According to reports, those apprehended comprised three men and three women. The Director of Shariah at KSHB, Sirajo Kamba, confirmed that the operation was part of efforts aimed at upholding societal moral standards across the North-West state.
Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, Kamba explained that the operation followed intelligence reports received by the agency.
He stated that on May 14, 2026, Hisbah officers carried out a raid on a hotel located behind the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, where the six suspects were allegedly caught engaging in immoral acts.
Kamba said the raid was triggered by information provided by members of the public, prompting officials to storm the premises and arrest those involved.
According to him, investigations are still ongoing, adding that appropriate actions would be taken in line with the law and the regulations guiding the board.
The Director of Shariah further disclosed that findings from the investigation revealed that one of the women arrested was married.
He stressed that the incident highlights the importance of stronger moral upbringing and the fear of God within society.
Kamba also urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s movements and online activities in order to protect them from behaviours capable of undermining community values and personal integrity.
