The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed that Miss Linda Ameh, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and lawyer earlier reported missing in Abuja, has been found safe.

The confirmation was contained in a statement issued on Sunday, May 10, 2026, by the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh.
According to the police spokesperson, Ameh personally appeared at the Maitama Police Station after she was found and gave an account of the events surrounding her disappearance.
“The FCT Police Command wishes to inform the public that Ms. Linda Ameh, the legal practitioner earlier reported missing on 6th May 2026, has been found and personally reported to the Maitama Police Station to provide details of the incident,” the statement read.
The police also disclosed that investigations were ongoing to track down and arrest those connected to the incident.
Adeh explained that the NYSC member was already cooperating with investigators by providing valuable information to aid the probe.
“She is assisting the Police with useful information to aid ongoing investigative efforts and ensure the perpetrators are apprehended,” she added.
The update comes days after the young lawyer was declared missing shortly after leaving her office in the Maitama area of Abuja on May 6.
Ameh, who was serving in the FCT under the NYSC programme, had recently been employed as a Sales Manager at Blades and Butchers Ltd., a company dealing in livestock and agricultural products located on Lake Chad Crescent, Maitama.
Sources close to the family had earlier revealed that she resumed duties at the company only about two weeks before she went missing.
Concern over her whereabouts grew after repeated attempts by family members and friends to contact her through her mobile phones proved unsuccessful, as all her lines were switched off.
The case was later reported at the Maitama Division of the Nigeria Police Force, while officials of the NYSC were also informed.
At the time, family members described the situation as distressing and expressed fears for her safety, especially as no ransom demand or communication had been received from anyone.
Her safe return has now brought relief to relatives, colleagues and fellow corps members who had been worried about her disappearance.
