Crackdown on Drug Trafficking: NDLEA Seizes Thousands of Opioids, Nabs Elderly Dealer
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a large consignment of various opioids and illicit substances concealed in building materials in Taraba State.

According to Babafemi, a major setback was dealt to opioid trafficking networks in Taraba on Saturday following credible intelligence that led to the interception of a truck transporting building materials from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Jalingo.
He explained that a comprehensive search of the vehicle by NDLEA operatives at the Nukkai Timber Shade in Jalingo uncovered a substantial quantity of drugs hidden beneath the cargo.
A 22-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Babafemi said officials recovered 320,840 capsules of tramadol, 600 ampoules of pentazocine injection, 4,500 pills of rohypnol, and 299 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup from the truck.
In a related development, he said NDLEA operatives, continuing their nationwide campaign against drug trafficking, arrested a 75-year-old grandfather in Ebonyi State.
The suspect was reportedly found in possession of 300 grams of skunk, which he allegedly sold in retail sachets to youths within his community.
Babafemi also disclosed that NDLEA officers in Imo State raided a known drug enclave at Umulolo in Orlu.
The operation led to the arrest of a suspected female drug dealer, 32-year-old Chioma Okeke, and the recovery of 8.8 kilograms of skunk.
