Pregnant Housewife Drags Husband to Court, Demands Divorce Confirmation

An eight-month pregnant housewife, Halima Yusuf, has filed a petition for confirmation of divorce at the Upper Area Court, Mararaba, Nasarawa State.
She accused her husband, Isah, of beating her and failing to provide for her basic needs. According to her petition, she said her husband neglected his responsibilities, including failing to provide food, clothing, and healthcare.
Halima stated that the marriage was contracted under Sharia Islamic law and explained that she has been living with her parents in Mararaba due to the situation.
She also told the court that she is currently eight months pregnant and is seeking confirmation of the divorce. In addition, she asked the court to issue an order compelling Isah to take responsibility for her pregnancy.
The case was heard at the Upper Area Court Mararaba, and the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Yakubu, adjourned the matter until June 11 for further hearing.
