Fake Agency Row: Senate Says Matter Belongs to Executive
The Senate on Tuesday, through its spokesperson, Senator Yemi Adaramodu (Ekiti South), said there is no petition before the Red Chamber to warrant its involvement in the controversy surrounding the alleged fake agency reportedly headed by a purported fake Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew.
Recall that in recent weeks, controversy has trailed the alleged non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), following a public dispute between the alleged Director-General and the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Hon.
While the Chief of Staff disowned the agency and its purported Director-General, the alleged DG insisted that the PFIPC is known to the Presidency through Gbajabiamila. He further alleged that the Chief of Staff collected N400 million from him for the appointment and demanded 48 per cent of the N1.3 billion appropriated for the agency in the 2026 budget.
Responding to journalists after Tuesday’s plenary, Adaramodu said the Senate has not received any petition from either of the feuding parties or any concerned Nigerian that would warrant legislative intervention or official comments on the matter.
