Int’nal Footballer, Francisca Ordega Donates Water Projects to Two Benue Communities

Nigerian international footballer, Francisca Ordega, has inaugurated two borehole water projects in Gboko Local Government Area (LGA), of Benue State, providing relief to residents of communities that have long struggled with access to clean water.

The projects, commissioned on July 6, are located at Tse Mue Ato Mbaaye, Ordega’s hometown, and the neighbouring Ikpenger community, both in Mbaavarakaa Council Ward of Mbatiav, Gboko LGA.

Speaking while inaugurating the projects, Ordega described water as a basic necessity of life and expressed optimism that the projects would improve access to safe drinking water, promote hygiene, and enhance the wellbeing of residents.

The commissioning attracted community leaders, elders, youths and well-wishers, who joined the football star in cutting the ribbon to officially unveil the facilities.

Residents of the two communities welcomed the projects with excitement, noting that the intervention would help address the recurring water shortages they experience, especially during the dry season.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional council and the people, Zaki Ankele and Elder Tyoanhyev Adzenda commended Ordega for what they described as a thoughtful and impactful contribution to the development of her people.

They expressed appreciation for her commitment to improving the lives of residents and prayed for greater success in her career and humanitarian efforts.

Also speaking at the event, Mr Joseph Ordega Ankele, father of the Super Falcons star, said he was proud to witness his daughter’s effort to give back to society.

According to him, supporting communities has always been a personal aspiration, and seeing his daughter make that vision a reality was deeply fulfilling.

“It is a dream come true through. It has always been a desire to give back to society. I pray God to grant her more strength, wisdom, and zeal to do more for the people.”

He also prayed God to grant her more strength, wisdom and resources to continue touching lives.

Francisca Ordega, who hails from Gboko, currently plays as a forward for Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al-Ittihad.

Media Coordinator of the Francisca Ordega Foundation (FOF), Vancouver Ter Alam, said the water projects were personally funded by the footballer as part of her commitment to addressing the water needs of the underserved communities in the State.
