The Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, Reverend Deji Oyelami, has admonished Christian couples to always make God the foundation of their marriage in order to fulfil the purpose of their union.

Reverend Deji Oyelami gave the admonition in his sermon during the Holy Matrimony between George Asade and Mofoluwaso Ajetunmobi, held at Glory Baptist Church, Ajegunle Area, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The clergyman described marriage as a covenant and not a contract. He expressed concern over the ungodly attitude of some couples in today’s society, noting that it has contributed to the increasing rate of broken homes and poorly raised children.
While advising the newly wedded couple, Mr. and Mrs. George Asade, to follow biblical principles in their marriage, Rev. Deji Oyelami stressed the need for both husband and wife not to disappoint God but to become role models by building their home on the Solid Rock, Jesus Christ.
The cleric, who noted that every marriage faces challenges, wished Mr. and Mrs. George Asade a happy married life and encouraged them to remain steadfast in faith and prayer to ensure a successful and blessed union.
The parents of the bridegroom, Deacon and Mrs. Victor Asade, expressed joy and gratitude to God for making the wedding ceremony a reality.
They prayed that God would bless the union with children and grant the couple divine wisdom, knowledge and understanding to successfully manage the affairs of their family.
In their congratulatory messages, Mr. Gbemileke Moses and Mr. Opeyemi Aina of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, wished the couple a happy and fulfilling married life.
Also congratulating the couple, Engr. Benjamin Ayandele of Gloryland Baptist Church, Lugbe, Abuja, described them as humble and respectful children of God. He advised them to continue loving one another and to always put their trust in God for a blessed and successful marriage.
In a vote of thanks, the newly wedded couple, Mr. and Mrs. George Asade, expressed gratitude to God for the successful wedding ceremony.
They also appreciated their families, friends, associates and all well-wishers for attending the event and wished everyone a safe journey back to their various destinations.
Meanwhile, the couple’s traditional marriage ceremony had earlier taken place at the bride’s family house in Ajagboju Compound, Ona Igbala Area, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Families, friends, associates and well-wishers from Abeokuta, Abuja, Sokoto and other parts of the country attended the traditional marriage ceremony.
The couple and their families later entertained guests in grand style at a colourful reception after the church service.
Highlights of the wedding ceremony included thanksgiving, cake cutting, presentation of gifts and prayers for the couple and their families.
