Three Crashes, One Plea: Kogi Woman Seeks Lifeline

A 32-year-old woman from Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Miss Oyiza Hamza, has appealed to the wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajiya Sefinat Usman Ododo, and well-meaning Nigerians to assist her as she battles the life-altering effects of three road accidents that left her physically challenged.

Oyiza made the emotional appeal on Sunday during a meeting of the Gadumo Quarters Community, where residents gathered to discuss issues affecting the community. She recounted how three separate accidents over the past three years changed the course of her life, resulting in the loss of one hand and one leg.
She explained that the injuries forced her to undergo several surgeries and left her permanently disabled, making her dependent on the support of others. According to her, the accidents also ended her dream of becoming a professional nurse, as she was studying at the School of Nursing, Obangede, when the incidents occurred.
“I have passed through hell since I survived these three terrible accidents. They took away my hand, my leg, and the future I had always dreamed of,” she said.
Oyiza said repeated efforts to seek assistance from individuals and organisations had yielded little support, leaving her to struggle with medical challenges, emotional pain, and uncertainty about her future.
She added that her condition has placed a heavy burden on her family, which had once relied on her as a source of support before the accidents changed her circumstances.
“I never imagined that my life would end up like this. Instead of taking care of my family, I have become the one needing help every day,” she lamented.
The 32-year-old appealed to Hajiya Sefinat Usman Ododo, charitable organisations, corporate bodies, and compassionate Nigerians to support her with funds for medical treatment, rehabilitation, and mobility aids to help her rebuild her life.
Responding to her appeal, participants at the meeting, chaired by Mr. Taiye Arojojoye, described her condition as heartbreaking and urged government agencies, philanthropists, and other well-meaning Nigerians not to ignore her call for assistance.
They expressed optimism that timely intervention would restore hope to the young woman, whose resilience despite her challenges has continued to inspire members of her community.
