1000 Law Enforcement Personnel Undergoing Stress Management Training
One Thousand Law enforcement personnel are currently undergoing a 10 day training on stress management and emotional well-being.
At the opening of the international training in Abuja, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Mallam Shehu Mohammed said the capacity building became necessary to meet the demands placed on law enforcement personnel.
Mallam Shehu Mohammed explained that FRSC collaborated with An Indian University, Rashtriya Raksha University to train the law enforcement personnel who are daily exposed to traumatic incidents, road traffic crashes, emergencies, disasters and security challenges.
According to him, the situation places enormous psychological and emotional demands on them.
According to the FRSC Boss, stress not properly managed can affect judgment, decision making, interpersonal relations, productivity and overall operational effectiveness.
He said the corps decided to bring in officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Correctional Service, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies to sharpen the operational and technical competencies of officers for efficient service delivery.
“To reflect the determination to align human capacity development initiatives with global best practices by equipping law enforcement personnel with practical skills in stress management.”
Adviser to the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Colonel Manoj Singh in a remark said India was ready to strengthen its six decades collaboration with Nigeria to enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement personnel.
The Trainings , will provide practical tools for managing occupational stress , recognizing emotional challenges, promoting mental health awareness, strengthening resilience and improving workplace effectiveness
