Churchgoer Killed in Fresh Plateau Attack

Tension gripped Fann community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Council of Plateau State on Sunday after a man who was reportedly on his way to church in the morning was allegedly shot dead.
Residents said the attack occurred at about 8:00am. Fann is a community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Council, Plateau State, in North-Central Nigeria.
A resident, who identified himself as Erica Dung, decried the incessant attacks across communities in Barkin Ladi and called on security agencies to urgently intervene.
According to him, unprovoked attacks and killings have become frequent across communities in the local government area, allegedly involving the same circle of arsonists.
He urged security agencies in Barkin Ladi and neighbouring communities to intensify efforts to prevent the attacks from becoming unmanageable.
Reacting to the incident on Sunday, the Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders, Rwang Tengwong, condemned the killing and called for urgent measures to protect residents.
Tengwong called for increased security patrols in troubled areas and neighbouring communities where the arsonists might be coming from.
He also urged the Plateau State Government and security agencies to identify those responsible for the killing and bring them to justice.
He further advised residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the appropriate authorities.
