Dickson Says Adeleke Victory Strengthens Nigeria’s Democracy

National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the governorship election.

In a statement in Abuja, Dickson also other candidates in the election to accept the result and work with Adeleke for the peace and development of the state.

The statement describes the victory as important to both Osun State and Nigeria’s democracy.

It says the result showed that the people could still make their choice through the ballot despite the challenges facing the country’s political system.

According to the statement Dickson commends the people of Osun State for defending their democratic choice and calls on all the contestants to put the election behind them and support the governor.

It states that this will promote peace, unity and development in the state.

According to the statement Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.

It explains that Adeleke won 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.
