Bandits Kill Kaduna Businessman After Collecting N12m Ransom, Abduct His Son
Bandits have killed a businessman, Mallam Auwal, in Kaduna State despite collecting N12 million ransom demanded for his release.

Auwal was abducted from his home at Hayin Babban Saura Police Quarters. Following his abduction, his family reportedly struggled to raise the N12 million demanded by the kidnappers and eventually delivered the ransom.
However, despite receiving the money, the bandits allegedly killed Auwal and claimed to have buried his remains.
The kidnappers also seized Auwal’s son, who personally delivered the ransom in an attempt to secure his father’s freedom.
A Salatul Gha’ib (funeral prayer in absentia) was held for Mallam Auwal at Murtala Square in Kaduna on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Family members, neighbours and community leaders gathered to pray for the deceased and seek divine intervention for the safe return of his son, who remains in captivity.
