The embattled former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has directed his supporters to vote for candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across the country in the 2027 general election.

The directive was delivered by the ADC Vice Chairman for the North-West, Hafsat Baba, who urged supporters to vote for all ADC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

According to Baba, the coalition intends to establish a database of El-Rufai’s supporters across Kaduna State to ensure effective political mobilisation.
Baba also condemned the arrest of 30 political supporters of the former governor in Kaduna State without justification, two weeks before their meeting.

She called on security agencies to remain impartial in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Hafsat made this known during a meeting of coalition support groups loyal to Malam El-Rufai in Kaduna.

She noted that El-Rufai’s directive to the coalition of supporters covers the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly elections.

The meeting was convened to bring together various support groups across Kaduna State for proper coordination ahead of the general election across the 23 Local Government Areas and beyond.
The ADC zonal Vice Chairman disclosed that a database of supporters would be established across the state to facilitate regular engagements.

According to her, ADC supporters were committed to sustaining the former governor’s legacy, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare and empowerment.

She also expressed concern that insecurity had worsened under the present administration, citing Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Millennium City and other parts of the state.

El-Rufai was arrested in March 2026 over allegations of fraud involving N579.6 million and $11 million during his tenure as governor of Kaduna State.
He has since been arraigned but remains in detention.
