2027: Senator Echocho Rejects Step-Down Claims, Vows to Return to Senate
Senator Isah Jibrin Echocho has reaffirmed his determination to contest the 2027 senatorial election for Kogi East under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing reports suggesting he had withdrawn from the race.
In a strongly worded statement, the senator described the rumours as false and politically motivated, insisting that neither he nor any of his associates authorised such claims.
Echocho stated clearly that he has never stepped down from the contest or indicated any intention to abandon his ambition to return to the Senate in 2027.
According to him, the reports being circulated are part of efforts by political opponents to mislead the public and create confusion within the APC in Kogi East.
The lawmaker said those behind the alleged misinformation have resorted to propaganda and blackmail because they lack genuine grassroots support across the district.
He added that the increasing support and confidence he continues to enjoy among constituents have unsettled his political rivals.
Echocho urged APC leaders, stakeholders and supporters in Kogi East to disregard the rumours and remain committed to promoting unity and strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The senator maintained that no amount of falsehood or sponsored narrative can diminish the goodwill and support he enjoys among the people of the district.
He also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged to continue championing policies and initiatives that would promote peace, development and effective representation for the people of Kogi East.
