Adesuyi Kayode Pleads Not Guilty as Court Grants Bail in Goat Theft Case

The police on Friday brought a 26-year-old man, Adesuyi Kayode, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged possession of a stolen goat.

Kayode, whose address was not disclosed, is facing a one-count charge relating to being in possession of a stolen goat.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Elijah Adejare, the offence occurred on May 24 at about 11 p.m. in Ikole-Ekiti. He alleged that the defendant was found with one goat suspected to have been stolen.
Adejare informed the court that the offence violates Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021, and requested an adjournment to allow him study the case file and present witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. His counsel, Mrs. Blessing Falaye, applied for bail, assuring the court that her client would not abscond.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Kehinde Awosika, granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦50,000 with one surety in the same amount. The case was adjourned until June 25 for hearing.
