Former presidential candidate and Board of Trustees (BOT) member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), High Chief Godson Okoye, has welcomed the Federal High Court judgment affirming the Senator David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC).

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday, Okoye praised the courage of the trial judge for standing firmly on the path of justice, describing the ruling as a landmark judgment that would strengthen both the opposition and Nigeria’s democracy.

He said the court victory would inspire and energize the party to mobilize greater support as it works towards unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okoye urged the judiciary, which he described as an independent institution and the last hope of the common man, to continue carrying out its responsibilities without fear or favour. He also called on the judiciary to remain insulated from executive influence, stressing that it has a critical role in defending Nigeria’s democracy.
The ADC chieftain thanked party members for their unwavering support and urged the party’s national leadership to build on the court victory by fostering unity ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to him, the ADC remains committed to rescuing Nigeria from what he described as the ineptitude of the APC administration, which he said has subjected Nigerians to hardship, hunger and mounting debt.
Okoye also appealed to members who left the party due to concerns over multiple legal disputes or other reasons to return, assuring them that the ADC has come to stay.
It will be recalled that Justice M. S. Liman of the Federal High Court, Abuja, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise Senator David Mark and other members of the ADC National Working Committee as the party’s duly elected national officers.
In his judgment on the merits in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1637/2025, Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide v. African Democratic Congress (ADC), Justice Liman held that Senator David Mark and other members of the ADC National Working Committee were duly elected and directed INEC to accord them full recognition.
