Bishop Adaji to Ododo: Kogi East deserves development, not neglect.pl

The Catholic Bishop of Idah Diocese, Most Rev. Anthony Ademu Adaji, has criticized the alleged neglect and underdevelopment of Kogi East, urging Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to govern fairly and ensure the area benefits from meaningful development.

He made the call during his homily at the funeral Mass of elder statesman, Dr. Paul Hussaini Okekwu Amodu, held at Saint Boniface Catholic Church, Idah.
Bishop Adaji noted that Kogi East gave significant electoral support to the governor and deserves corresponding attention. He lamented the poor condition of roads and educational institutions across Igala land, describing the region as abandoned despite being home to one of Nigeria’s largest ethnic groups. He also urged Igala sons and daughters to unite and contribute to the development of their homeland instead of seeking comfort elsewhere.
The cleric advised politicians to place the welfare of the people above personal enrichment, stressing that true leadership is measured by the legacy it leaves behind. According to him, lasting achievements and investments in people outlive material wealth and remain beneficial to future generations.
The funeral service attracted several prominent personalities, including former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni, former Kogi Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Isa Ichaba, traditional and religious leaders, political associates, and senior public servants. Dr. Paul Hussaini Okekwu Amodu was remembered for his distinguished contributions to public service in Kogi State and Nigeria.
