PFIPC Investigation Deepens as House Orders Adeyemi’s Appearance

The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has directed the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, to ensure that the council’s alleged Director-General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, appears before the committee on Wednesday this week.

The directive followed the submission of the IGP’s representative, Assistant Inspector-General of Police Bashir Abdullahi, who informed the committee that signatures on several disputed documents did not correspond with authentic official records. He, however, cautioned against revealing sensitive details that could affect ongoing investigations and court proceedings.
Chairman of the committee, Yusuf Gagdi, said Prince Adeyemi’s appearance had become necessary to clarify issues raised during the investigation and enable the panel to conclude its assignment within the stipulated timeframe. He expressed concern over conflicting claims, disputed documents, and allegations involving individuals and government institutions in connection with the controversial council.
Gagdi explained that the committee’s decision was aimed at protecting the integrity of individuals and institutions mentioned during the investigation, while also verifying documents alleged to have been altered. He assured security agencies that the legislative probe would not interfere with any ongoing investigations, stressing that the committee’s work was intended to complement efforts to establish the facts surrounding the PFIPC.
