FCTA Rewards Workers as Wike Approves 3,592 Promotions

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

The promotion forms part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. It comes shortly after the commissioning and flag-off of more than 30 projects across the FCT between June 8 and July 17, 2026, in celebration of the President’s third year in office.
Announcing the development, Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, said the approval reflects the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Ezeh disclosed that senior officers sat for their promotion examinations from July 1 to 3, while junior officers took theirs on July 10. He commended the FCT Minister for providing the support that enabled the commission to successfully carry out its statutory responsibilities.
He also revealed that Wike has directed the commission to immediately begin the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure that all qualified officers are promoted as and when due without unnecessary delays.
According to Ezeh, the administration places a high priority on the timely promotion of FCT workers, noting that the initiative complements the ongoing infrastructural transformation being driven by the FCT Minister.
“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers are promoted as and when due. This is to complement the tremendous work the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development across the Territory. For us, the workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking the third anniversary of Mr. President,” he said.
He explained that the directive demonstrates the administration’s resolve to match infrastructure development with improved staff welfare and career progression, ensuring civil servants also benefit from the achievements recorded under the Tinubu administration.
Ezeh further commended FCT civil servants for maintaining peace, orderliness, and discipline throughout the 2025 promotion exercise. He urged officers expected to participate in the 2026 exercise to uphold the same level of professionalism.
The commission chairman also appreciated the leadership of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) for its cooperation and support, which contributed to the successful conduct of the exercise.
He advised officers preparing for the 2026 promotion exercise to begin early, stressing that promotions in the FCT Civil Service are merit-based, highly competitive, and dependent on the availability of vacancies.
