Baba-Ahmed Warns North Over Tinubu’s 2027 Ambition

The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as the worst government in Nigeria’s history.

Baba-Ahmed also warned that northern Nigeria would face serious consequences if Tinubu wins a second term in the 2027 presidential election.

The PRP chairman made the remarks during a broadcast interview while assessing the state of the country under the present administration.
“The North will be finished if Tinubu wins in 2027. He’s the worst President ever in the history of Nigeria. The problem is the disconnect between the government and the people,” Baba-Ahmed said.
He identified the growing gap between the government and ordinary Nigerians as one of the major problems confronting the country.
Baba-Ahmed also criticised the Federal Government’s response to concerns reportedly raised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria during their recent meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The bishops had reportedly expressed concerns over the hardship being experienced by Nigerians, including hunger, economic difficulties and worsening insecurity.
According to Baba-Ahmed, the meeting should have provided an opportunity for the government to listen to the concerns of religious leaders who, he said, maintain significant contact with ordinary Nigerians.
“Catholic bishops went to the President. These are highly respected people. He must have thought that it would be a good outing for him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t even have agreed to meet them,” he said.
He claimed that the bishops told the President that Nigerians were unhappy with the government and were struggling with hunger and insecurity.
“They went to him, politely said to him, Mr President, the people are not happy with you. They are hungry. They are insecure. There are a lot of problems running in the country,” he added.
The PRP chairman further criticised what he described as the administration’s rejection of the concerns raised by the bishops.
“For every issue the bishops raised, the President said, no, you are wrong. I am right. There is no hunger in this country, what you are saying is not true,” Baba-Ahmed alleged.
He questioned why a government would dismiss concerns about hardship instead of acknowledging the difficulties facing citizens and addressing them.
The comments come as political parties and opposition figures intensify their criticism of the Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu has yet to specifically respond to Baba-Ahmed’s latest remarks.
