Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to back the continuity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership beyond 2027 while also promoting the return of experienced lawmakers to the National Assembly.
Speaking at the APC National Convention in Abuja, Abbas underscored the role of the legislature as a key partner in driving the administration’s reforms, noting that sustained leadership is essential for meaningful progress.
He pointed out that the frequent turnover of Senators and House members has negatively impacted governance, lawmaking, and the efficient use of public resources, calling for intentional support for dedicated and high-performing legislators seeking re-election.
According to Abbas, continuity represents “the discipline of progress,” stressing that nations achieve advancement by building on existing efforts rather than starting over.
The Speaker further highlighted the unity of the North-West under the APC as a significant advantage, urging the party to convert that strength into tangible results, effective policies, and public trust.
He also advised the newly constituted National Working Committee to demonstrate careful leadership through disciplined coordination and continuous engagement, adding that the journey ahead would require both discipline and sacrifice.
