Edo Monarch Highlights Seven Months Achievements, Dismisses Allegations of Land Grabbing
A Traditional Ruler, His Royal Majesty, Micheal Sado, the Okuokpellaogbe of Okpella in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, has called for constitutional recognition of the traditional institution to enhance peaceful coexistence and rural transformation nationwide.
His Royal Majesty Micheal Sado made the call while speaking with newsmen virtually on his seven months activities and programmes as a Traditional Ruler in Edo State.
According to him, various developmental projects such as road construction, healthcare facilities, schools, establishment of a microfinance bank and other people-oriented projects have been carried out in his community within seven months of ascending the throne as a Traditional Ruler.
While dismissing media reports of financial misappropriation and land grabbing in the community, His Royal Majesty Micheal Sado reiterated his commitment towards attracting investors that would further improve the socioeconomic wellbeing of his people.
He described the media reports and allegations as the handiwork of some saboteurs in his community, stating that their actions would not stop him from carrying out his developmental programmes and activities for the good people of the community.
“Okpella is a community that has a lot of industries and all that, and when I came in as the traditional ruler, I decided that we need to harness our potentials for the overall development of the community. I immediately called for an Executive Council meeting where I informed my Chiefs that we need to change the system of how we channel our financial resources to projects that would benefit the people and attract both development and investors to the community because in my community we generate a reasonable amount of money that we were supposed to use over the years to make life more meaningful to the people,” he explained.
“As a Royal Father, I am committed to attracting development and investors to my community through collaboration and partnership with the private sector just the way we’re doing with Dangote that has led to the construction of roads in our community, and this is what I’m determined to do towards improving the socioeconomic wellbeing of my people,” he stated.
In his words, “Those people cooking up allegations against me and reporting me to the EFCC are saboteurs because I’ve stopped them from diverting resources meant for development in the community. Thank God that after my invitation and questioning by the EFCC in Abuja, I was asked to go even when the enemies of progress arranged for the media to embarrass me. I want to assure all those behind this unpatriotic action that we’re going to take necessary legal actions against them.”
The Traditional Ruler, who solicited the continuous support of the people of his community, noted that the traditional institution has a greater role to play towards actualizing the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
