University of Calabar in Exam Turmoil After Student Says Holy Spirit Led Her to Reveal Leaked Answer
An examination in the Department of Accounting at the University of Calabar was abruptly called off after an examiner allegedly issued question papers that contained both the questions and their corresponding answers.
According to accounts circulating among students, the mistake came to light shortly after the examination commenced, when candidates observed that the answers were printed on the same sheet as the questions. Despite noticing the error early, students reportedly remained quiet and continued writing without alerting the invigilators.
The situation, however, took a dramatic turn moments before the exam concluded when a female student rose to notify the invigilators about the oversight. Witnesses said she stated that she felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to speak up and could no longer stay silent about what had happened.
Her revelation reportedly threw the examination hall into confusion, as invigilators immediately moved to verify the claim and confirmed that the answers had indeed been included in the question paper. The examiner was subsequently informed, and the examination was cancelled.
Students were directed to stop writing and submit their scripts, while departmental authorities announced that a new date would be fixed for a fresh examination.
The incident has since generated widespread debate among students, touching on issues of academic integrity, personal conscience, and collective responsibility during examinations.
As of the time of filing this report, the university management had not released an official statement indicating whether disciplinary action would be taken against the examiner or if a formal investigation would follow.
