Gospel Debate Heats Up as Testimony Jaga Counters Osinbajo’s Remarks

Nigerian music star Testimony Jaga has expressed disagreement with former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo over his recent comments regarding the gospel.

Osinbajo’s remarks, which addressed the “prosperity gospel” doctrine, have attracted criticism from Testimony Jaga and other commentators within the Christian community.
The former vice president, who is also a pastor, dismissed the belief that faith guarantees material wealth and physical well-being, insisting that such teachings are not central to Christian doctrine.
He made this known during a live session at Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International, where he responded to submissions by Pastor Korede Komaiya.
In response, Testimony Jaga, in a video that has since circulated widely, countered Osinbajo’s position. He argued that the gospel message should not be divided, stressing that it includes both spiritual and material aspects.
“There’s no such thing. There’s only a gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ, sir,” he stated.
The singer further questioned the distinction made between prosperity teachings and the broader Christian message, calling for a more comprehensive understanding of the gospel.
The exchange has reignited discussions among Christians in Nigeria, highlighting differing interpretations of doctrine and the role of church leaders in shaping theological perspectives.
