Stakeholders Rally as ACCI Prepares for Landmark Agricultural Mechanisation Expo in Abuja
The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has finalized plans to host its Agricultural Mechanization for Export – Quality Products in Africa (AGROMEQA) Expo.
The President of ACCI, Emeka Obegolu, disclosed this while speaking with journalists ahead of the AGROMEQA Expo in Abuja.
Obegolu, who was represented by the 2nd Deputy President of ACCI, Aliyu Idi Hong, explained that the Expo forms part of ACCI’s broader campaign to promote mechanized farming across Nigeria.
According to him, “AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 represents a landmark initiative jointly undertaken by the Agricultural Trade Group, JMT Plus Farms, and Agro-Allied, in collaboration with the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to reposition Nigeria’s agricultural sector for enhanced productivity, value addition, and global export competitiveness.”
He added that the event is scheduled to take place from June 10–11, 2026, at the Prince Adetokunbo Kayode Trade and Convention Centre, located along Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway, Airport Road, Abuja.
Obegolu further stated that the Expo will be held under the theme “Technology and Investment for Agro-Export,” and is designed as a leading continental platform aimed at promoting agricultural mechanisation, strengthening export-quality production systems, and attracting sustainable investments across the agribusiness value chain.
He emphasized that the initiative reinforces a collective commitment to advancing Nigeria’s priorities in food security, economic diversification, and export-driven growth. A key highlight of the event will be its official declaration by the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima.
In addition, the President of NACCIMA, Jani Ibrahim, will deliver the keynote address on “Agricultural Export and the Role of Private Capital in Its Value Chain.”
The Expo is expected to attract a diverse group of participants, including policymakers, government officials, agribusiness investors, industry leaders, agricultural machinery manufacturers, technology providers, research institutions, academia, farmers’ associations, development partners, financial institutions, and international organisations.
Over the course of two days, AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 will showcase advanced agricultural technologies such as mechanised equipment, precision farming tools, irrigation systems, agro-processing innovations, and climate-smart solutions.
It will also feature plenary sessions, technical discussions, interactive workshops, and business-to-business engagements aimed at fostering collaboration, mobilising capital, and encouraging technology transfer.
Beyond exhibitions, the Expo will function as a strategic investment marketplace, linking local producers, agritech developers, and agribusinesses with investors seeking viable opportunities in mechanisation, processing, logistics, and export operations. These efforts align with Nigeria’s goal of expanding private-sector participation and strengthening access to international markets.
Obegolu further noted that a live demonstration arena will display cutting-edge farming technologies, while a dedicated agro-processing and packaging platform will highlight opportunities for local value addition. A Schools’ Agro Exhibition and Competition will also be organised to encourage young agricultural innovators.
He reaffirmed that AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 reflects the shared commitment of JMT Plus Farms, Agro-Allied, the Agricultural Trade Group, and ACCI to accelerate agricultural modernisation as a pathway to national prosperity.
According to him, enhancing mechanisation, innovation, and investment will unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s agricultural sector, generate employment, boost rural economies, and improve competitiveness in global export markets.
He expressed confidence that the Expo will attract investment inflows, facilitate technology transfer, and foster strategic partnerships that will deliver sustainable economic benefits and long-term sectoral transformation.
Obegolu therefore called on Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), private sector players, development partners, and the international community to actively participate in the event, stressing that collaboration and capital mobilisation are critical to achieving sustainable agricultural transformation and positioning Nigeria as a key agro-export player in Africa.
He also appreciated media organisations for their continued support and urged them to provide extensive coverage to enhance the visibility of the Expo, noting that the event promises rich and impactful content.
He concluded by stating that AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 is poised to become a flagship agricultural event in West Africa, setting new standards in innovation, investment facilitation, collaboration, and capacity development within the sector.
