APC Stakeholders Insist Ned Nwoko Won Delta North Primary, Dismiss Okowa’s Declaration

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North have rejected what they described as a “self-declared and propagandist victory announcement” by former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, insisting that results from the party’s senatorial primaries clearly show Distinguished Senator Ned Munir Nwoko won by a landslide.

In a statement issued after the exercise, the stakeholders accused Okowa of disregarding laid-down party procedures by announcing himself winner before the completion of the official collation and declaration process as stipulated by the APC National Organising Secretary.
According to them, the APC had already outlined the approved process for collating and announcing results, which includes Ward Collation, Local Government Area (LGA) Collation, Designated Constituency Collation Centres, and final submission to the party’s National Headquarters.
“The authority to officially declare results rests solely with the National Committee. Okowa’s action is a violation of party guidelines and an attempt to shape public perception ahead of due process,” the statement read.
The stakeholders maintained that results obtained from various wards across Delta North overwhelmingly favoured Senator Ned Nwoko, describing Okowa’s victory claim as “mere fiction driven by propaganda.”
They released figures from several wards across the senatorial district to support their position.
In Ward 7, Ndokwa West, Senator Ned Nwoko reportedly scored 1,281 votes against Okowa’s 26 votes, with 35 void votes and a total accreditation of 1,342 voters.
In Ward 9, Abbi, Ndokwa West, Nwoko polled 1,505 votes while Okowa secured 420 votes.
Ward 7, Akumazi recorded 687 votes for Nwoko and five votes for Okowa.
In Ward 13, Ute Ogbeje, Ika North East, Nwoko scored 415 votes against Okowa’s 13 votes, while Ward 10, Idumuesa, Ika North East recorded 2,719 votes for Nwoko and 13 for Okowa.
Results from Ukwuani LGA also showed wide margins in favour of Nwoko. Ward 8 recorded 450 votes for Nwoko and 20 for Okowa, while Ward 1 produced 1,438 votes for Nwoko and 68 for Okowa.
Ward 10 recorded 940 votes for Nwoko against nine for Okowa, Ward 9 had 750 votes for Nwoko and 200 for Okowa, while Ward 2 recorded 251 votes for Nwoko against 56 for Okowa.
In Oshimili South, the stakeholders said the results also heavily favoured Nwoko across multiple wards.
Ward 3 recorded 1,221 votes for Nwoko and 41 for Okowa, while Ward 4 produced 1,465 votes for Nwoko and 59 for Okowa.
Ward 6 reportedly recorded 5,398 votes for Nwoko against 53 for Okowa, while Ward 8 produced 2,335 votes for Nwoko and 61 for Okowa.
Ward 7 recorded 1,412 votes for Nwoko and 21 for Okowa, while Ward 5 produced 4,642 votes for Nwoko and 101 for Okowa.
Ward 1 recorded 500 votes for Nwoko against 115 for Okowa, Ward 9 had 3,679 votes for Nwoko and 49 for Okowa, while Ward 10 recorded 1,234 votes for Nwoko and 99 for Okowa.
Ward 2 produced 1,551 votes for Nwoko and 103 for Okowa, while Ward 11 reportedly recorded 4,355 votes for Nwoko against 54 for Okowa.
The stakeholders said the figures reflected “a clear and consistent pattern” across the district in favour of Senator Ned Nwoko.
“These figures are not isolated. They demonstrate overwhelming support for Senator Ned Nwoko across Delta North. The people have spoken clearly,” the statement added.
The stakeholders also alleged that the primaries witnessed cases of intimidation and violence in areas where support for Nwoko was strongest.
In Ward 9, Obiaruku in Ukwuani LGA, a party member identified as Igelige Chukunomnazu alleged that voters were intimidated, votes manipulated, and Nwoko supporters attacked during the exercise. He and several others were reportedly injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
They also alleged that in Ward 8, Aniocha North LGA, a man identified as Ernest was stabbed during the primaries, adding that video and photographic evidence of the incident exists.
In Ward 3, Anishi Primary School, the stakeholders claimed violence became so severe that the returning officer allegedly fled the venue for safety.
Describing the incidents as “coordinated attempts to suppress the genuine will of party members,” the stakeholders called on the APC National Committee to intervene and ensure transparency in the final declaration of results.
“The integrity of the APC is at stake. This goes beyond a primary election. It is about whether internal democracy will be protected or sacrificed to manipulation,” the statement stated.
They urged the National Committee to ignore what they described as “manufactured narratives” and ensure that the final outcome reflects the true wishes of party members across the wards.
“For us in Delta North, the outcome is already clear. What remains is for the party leadership to uphold its rules and officially affirm the will of the people,” the stakeholders concluded.
