Breaking: Teacher Shot as Gunmen Abduct School Principal and Students in Oriire LGA

Suspected gunmen on Friday attacked Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, abducting the school principal and an unspecified number of students.


The attackers reportedly stormed the school between 8am and 9am, during which a teacher was also shot.
A source said an unknown number of students were taken during the incident.
According to the source, “An unspecified number of students. We don’t know their number were abducted.
“The school principal, Mrs Rachel Alamu, was also abducted. They also shot a teacher in the school. I don’t know the sex of the teacher.
“The police station is far from that place. The nearest police station should be Ikoyi Division.”
The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that an attack occurred in the community but did not confirm whether there were kidnappings.
He added that the Commissioner of Police and his team were already on their way to the area.
“There was an attack in that area. The Commissioner of Police is on his way to the area,” he said.
In a statement, the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, also confirmed the incident.
He expressed deep concern over the attack on LA School, Ahoro-Esinele, and Community Grammar School, describing it as a tragic moment for the education sector in the state.
He noted that the exact number of abducted pupils was still being determined as security agencies continued operations in the area.
OYOSUBEB also assured the public that security operatives, under the coordination of the Commissioner of Police, were actively managing the situation and working to restore order.
