Echocho Lists Achievements, Reaffirms Commitment to Kogi East

The Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Jibrin Isah Echocho has unveiled a comprehensive report of his stewardship from 2019 to 2026, detailing legislative achievements, constituency projects, empowerment programmes, and infrastructure initiatives executed across the district’s nine local government areas.

The report, released through his media team, reflects what the senator described as his commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustained engagement with the people who elected him to the Senate.
According to the statement, the stewardship report is aimed at keeping the people of Kogi East informed about ongoing development efforts while reinforcing support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and its Renewed Hope Agenda.
The report highlights interventions in key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, water supply, rural electrification, youth and women empowerment, security, and employment facilitation.
In Ankpa Local Government Area, Senator Echocho listed projects such as the provision of transformers, motorised and solar-powered boreholes, classroom construction, healthcare interventions, skills acquisition programmes, and the establishment of a modern integrated cassava processing plant.
The report also emphasised educational development through the sponsorship of legislation seeking the conversion of the Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, into a Federal University of Education, alongside the distribution of educational materials and construction of classroom blocks in several communities.
In Ibaji Local Government Area, the senator highlighted the construction of an ultra-modern rice mill, agricultural empowerment initiatives, distribution of farming equipment, healthcare interventions, youth empowerment programmes, and support for victims of flooding and boat accidents.
For Dekina Local Government Area, the report listed the reactivation of the Acharu Palm Oil Mill at Egume, construction and rehabilitation of healthcare facilities, classroom projects, road infrastructure, market development, installation of boreholes, provision of security infrastructure, and support for educational institutions.
It added that work is ongoing on several strategic projects, including police stations, market facilities, and water schemes across the local government area.
In Ofu, Omala, Bassa, Olamaboro, Idah, and Igalamela/Odolu local government areas, the report outlined similar interventions covering agriculture, healthcare, education, rural electrification, water supply, and community development.
According to the report, several communities benefited from tractors and farming implements, upgraded health centres, borehole projects, solar-powered streetlights, relief materials for disaster victims, and livelihood enhancement training programmes.
Beyond infrastructure, the report highlighted what it described as a “mega empowerment programme” implemented across Kogi East Senatorial District.
It stated that beneficiaries received buses, speedboats, tricycles, motorcycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, gas cylinders, laptops, and cash grants targeted at widows, youths, and other vulnerable groups.
The senator also said he facilitated employment opportunities for constituents in several federal agencies and institutions, including the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Federal Fire Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and other government establishments.
On the legislative front, the report outlined bills sponsored by Senator Echocho, including proposals for the establishment of a Federal University of Education in Ankpa, a Federal Eye Centre in Ochadamu, and a Federal Medical Centre in Dekina.
Other legislative initiatives focused on capital market development, agricultural financing, economic management, and institutional reforms.
The senator also listed several motions presented on the floor of the Senate covering road rehabilitation, power projects, humanitarian interventions, railway development, educational infrastructure, and support for communities affected by disasters and communal conflicts.
According to the statement, the stewardship report reflects Senator Echocho’s resolve to combine effective legislative representation with constituency development and direct engagement with the people.
The report comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum, with the senator recently expressing readiness to mobilise support for President Tinubu across the nine local government areas of Kogi East.
His media team maintained that the publication of the stewardship report demonstrates the belief that elected representatives should remain accountable to the people by regularly updating them on their performance in office.
