The Nigeria Police Airwing has honoured newly promoted officers and decorated deserving personnel with Letters of Commendation in recognition of their courage, professionalism and outstanding contributions to national security.

The ceremony took place at the Nigeria Police Airwing Hangar, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, and was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, Airwing, CP Martin Nwogoh.
He described the event as a celebration of excellence, sacrifice and unwavering dedication to duty.
In his welcome address, CP Nwogoh said the officers being recognised had distinguished themselves during several high-risk anti-banditry and counter-insurgency operations, displaying exceptional bravery even while under hostile attacks that threatened their lives. He explained that the recognition was intended to reward gallantry and encourage greater commitment among personnel.
The Airwing Commissioner highlighted the strategic importance of the Nigeria Police Airwing to the nation’s security architecture, noting that beyond aerial patrols, it provides intelligence gathering, search and rescue services, medical evacuations, logistics support, election security, inter-agency collaboration and counter-insurgency operations.
CP Nwogoh commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for prioritising personnel welfare, professional development and merit-based promotion, which he said made the decoration of professionally qualified officers possible. According to him, the promotions reflect the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to excellence and operational efficiency.
He urged the newly promoted officers to wear their new ranks with humility, discipline and integrity, stressing that promotion comes with increased responsibility and accountability. He also encouraged recipients of the Letters of Commendation to remain steadfast and continue inspiring others through exemplary service.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions, Hon. Laori Kwamoti, commended the officers for their courage, professionalism and commitment to protecting the nation.
Hon. Kwamoti, who represents the Numan/Demsa/Lamurde Federal Constituency, encouraged the officers to continue giving their best in service to Nigeria. He stressed that acts of bravery and exceptional service should be recognised and rewarded to inspire other personnel within the Force to emulate such exemplary conduct.

The lawmaker added that recognising outstanding officers not only boosts morale but also strengthens the culture of excellence and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.

The ceremony ended with congratulations to all newly promoted officers and recipients of the Letters of Commendation, alongside a renewed call for sustained dedication, teamwork and commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country.
