NASC Reshuffles Standing Committees, Redeployments Take Immediate Effect

The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has rejigged the membership of its Standing Committees.
The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Chief Saviour Enyiekere, announced the decision during the 32nd Meeting of the Commission held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Enyiekere explained that the committees were intentionally allowed to function until Tuesday to enable them to conclude pending assignments.

He further stated that the reconstitution of the committees was in line with Section 7 of the Standing Orders of the Commission. He called for unity and cooperation among committee members and the Management to enable the Commission to achieve its mandates.

The new Standing Committees are as follows:
The Finance and General Purpose Committee is headed by the Executive Chairman, with all the Commissioners as members, while the Secretary to the Commission, Lucky U. Ikharo, serves as its Secretary.

The Administration and Employee Relations Committee is chaired by the Commissioner for North-East, Hon. Lawan Maina Mahmud, with former Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mr Patrick Giwa, as his Deputy.

Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Malle, Commissioner, North-East, is now the Chairman of the Committee on Procurement and General Services, with Chief Festus Ifesinachi Odii, Commissioner, South-East, as Deputy Chairman.

Rt-Hon-Kwamoti-B-Laori

Mr Patrick A. Giwa, Commissioner, South-South, is now the Chairman of the Establishment, Records and Training Committee, while Hon. Nnanna Uzor Kalu, Commissioner, South-East, is the Deputy Chairman.

Hon. Kalu also takes over as Chairman of the Committee on Zonal Offices and Legislative Aides, with Hon. Hanmation Mark Tersoo, Commissioner, North-Central, as Deputy Chairman.

Chief Festus I. Odii is now Chairman of the Planning, Research and Library Services Committee, while Hon. Afeez Ipesa-Balogun, Commissioner, South-West, is the Deputy Chairman.

Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, Commissioner, North-West, now heads the Committee on Promotion and Discipline, with Mrs Mary Ekpenyong, Commissioner, South-South, as his Deputy.

Meanwhile, Hon. Afeez Ipesa-Balogun, Commissioner, South-West, retained his chairmanship of the Committee on Public Affairs, while Senator Hunkuyi becomes the Vice Chairman.
The Appeals and Legal Services Committee is now headed by Hon.

Hanmation Mark Tersoo, with Hon. Lawan Maina Mahmud as his Deputy.
Hon. Salihu Umar Agboola Balogun, representing the North-Central, is now Chairman of the Committee on Information and Communication Technology, with Alh. Yusuf A. Yusuf, Commissioner, North-West, as Vice Chairman.

Alh. Yusuf A. Yusuf is now the Head of the Internal Audit Committee, while Mallam Salihu Balogun serves as the Vice Chairman.

Mrs Mary Ekpenyong, Commissioner, South-South, is the Chairman of the Tenders Board, with Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Malle as her Deputy.
All the committees have members drawn from across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

According to the NASC Chairman, the redeployments take immediate effect.
