Buratai Raises Alarm: Terror Financiers Still Operating Freely Despite Being Known

Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has disclosed that individuals responsible for financing terrorism in Nigeria are well known to security agencies but continue to live freely within society.

He made this revelation while speaking on a television programme, where he addressed concerns about the ongoing insecurity in the country and the role of terror sponsors.
According to him, the issue is not about identifying those behind the funding, as relevant authorities are already aware of them. However, he noted that the decision not to make their identities public lies with the appropriate agencies, which may have their reasons for withholding such information. �

Buratai emphasized that simply mentioning names is not enough, stressing that concrete action should be taken against those involved. He pointed out that many of these individuals remain within the country and continue their activities despite being known. �

The former army chief also clarified that he cannot be held responsible for naming terror financiers, noting that such responsibility falls within the jurisdiction of designated institutions. �
