The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has felicitated with Muslims across the country on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, urging continued prayers for global peace.

The Sultanate Council has declared Friday, March 20, 2026, as the first day of Shawwal 1447AH, marking the end of the Ramadan fast.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau prayed to Allah SWT to accept the supplications, prayers, and good deeds of the Ummah during the holy month.
He urged the Muslim Ummah to uphold the lessons of Ramadan and reflect them in their daily lives, as taught by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his sustained efforts to stabilise Nigeria’s economy through ongoing reforms and policy initiatives.
He also noted that President Tinubu has remained proactive in the fight against insurgency and banditry in the country, stressing that “we must all continue to support him to achieve lasting results.”
He expressed optimism that President Tinubu’s directive for security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri, following Monday’s terrorist attacks, would help eliminate criminal elements.
The presiding officer stated that the 2026 budget, currently under consideration at the National Assembly, would, upon passage and implementation, significantly address infrastructure deficits and other national challenges.
While wishing Muslims a joyful and peaceful celebration, Senator Barau urged them to spread love and extend support to the less privileged during and after the festive period.
“Glory be to Allah SWT for the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan, 1447AH. I rejoice with fellow Muslims across the country. This is a time of joy and gratitude to Almighty Allah. Let us spread love and support those in need during and beyond the festive period,” he said.
Meanwhile, Senator Barau has disbursed N157 million to his constituents as part of his Sallah gesture across the 13 local government areas of Kano North Senatorial District.
The distribution, which began on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, is aimed at supporting constituents, particularly the less privileged, to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with ease and dignity.
More than 60,000 bags have also been distributed across Kano North and other parts of Kano State by the Deputy President of the Senate for Ramadan and Sallah.
