Abala Ugada Community Backs Senator Nwoko’s Push for Anioma State

The Abala Ugada community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has explained its support for the proposed creation of Anioma State, an initiative championed by Senator Ned Nwoko representing Delta North.
The President General (PG) of the community in the FCT, Chief Uche Okei, made this known while speaking with journalists over the weekend in his office in Abuja.
Chief Okei expressed strong support for Senator Nwoko’s efforts, affirming that the community stands firmly behind his quest to establish Anioma State.
Also serving as Vice President of Izuanioma Town Union in Abuja and Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo in the 19 Northern States and the FCT, Okei noted that the creation of the proposed state would usher in much-needed development. He pointed to the lack of infrastructure, especially road networks, as a major concern in the region.
He stressed that the people of Abala Ugada are Igbo and have suffered marginalization over time, adding that the creation of Anioma State would give them a sense of belonging. According to him, the area has experienced neglect, and the establishment of the state would improve living standards and foster growth.
Chief Okei dismissed opposition to the proposal, describing dissenting voices as a minority that does not reflect the general opinion of the people. He encouraged critics to engage in dialogue and present their concerns constructively.
The community leader further highlighted the economic benefits of state creation, noting that it would attract investors and generate employment opportunities. He cited Igbanke in Edo State as an example of an Igbo-speaking community that has faced neglect, adding that Anioma State would also benefit such areas.
He cautioned against moves to include Onitsha and other المناطق in the proposed state, insisting that the existing boundaries should remain intact. He emphasized that the natural boundary between Delta and Anambra States must be respected.
Chief Okei commended Senator Nwoko for his commitment to the cause, stating that the lawmaker has done a great deal for the people of Delta North. He urged him to remain steadfast, assuring him of continued community support.
He also called on the Federal Government to back the creation of Anioma State, describing it as a move that would promote peace and development. According to him, the demand is not excessive but a legitimate call for a state of their own.
The community leader expressed appreciation to Senator Nwoko for his dedication, noting that the people of Delta North value his efforts. He appealed to all stakeholders to support the initiative, describing it as crucial for the region’s advancement.
