The Assemblies of God Nigeria, Ughelli District, has finally reacted to the viral video showing a violent disruption during a Sunday service at its Ovwiani branch in Ughelli, Delta State.

In a statement released on Sunday, the church confirmed that the incident is currently undergoing internal review. It assured that the matter is being handled with “wisdom, discretion, and maturity.”
This response follows reports that a group of uniformed individuals invaded the church during service, assaulting a senior pastor and his wife, while causing panic among worshippers.
Addressing the situation, the church stated that the matter is receiving the full attention of its leadership, emphasizing that appropriate steps are being taken.
It also confirmed that the affected pastor and his family have received proper medical care after the incident.
“We are pleased to inform the public that the Pastor and his family have received appropriate medical attention following the incident, and necessary care has been duly provided,” the statement noted.
The church described the incident as an internal matter, adding that its established spiritual and administrative structures are actively working towards resolving the issue.
“As a church community, we regard this as a family matter,” the statement said, expressing confidence that “a fair, appropriate, and peaceful resolution will be reached.”
While the review continues, the church urged the public and the Christian community to avoid speculation or drawing conclusions based on incomplete information.
“We respectfully urge members of the body of Christ and the general public to refrain from speculation or drawing premature conclusions based on incomplete information,” it added.
Reaffirming its stance, the Ughelli District emphasized its commitment to godliness and the promotion of peace, while calling on all parties involved to allow calm to prevail.
