2027: Adamu Focused on Nasarawa, Not Distractions – Aide

The campaign council of former Inspector General of Police, Rtd. Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, says the former police chief will not allow what it described as trivial sentiments to distract his political ambition following comments made by the Nasarawa State APC Chairman, Dr.

Aliyu Bello.
In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Monday, the Media Consultant to the campaign council, High Chief Otaru Douglas, said the council was reacting to remarks allegedly made by the APC chairman during an event in Doma Local Government Area. The statement maintained that Mohammed Adamu joined the race to rescue Nasarawa State from what it described as the grip of economic and political forces holding the state back.
According to the statement, the campaign council viewed Dr. Bello’s comments as unfortunate and unnecessary, insisting that the former IGP’s record of service, discipline, and integrity remains unquestionable. It alleged that those benefiting from the state’s resources were uncomfortable with Adamu’s growing popularity and determination to provide purposeful leadership.
The statement further stressed that Adamu’s governorship ambition was not a futile exercise, as claimed by the APC chairman, but one driven by patriotism and a genuine desire to improve the lives of the people of Nasarawa State. It added that residents of the state were fully aware of those who had consistently stood with them and those allegedly interested in personal gains.
The campaign council also described the former IGP as an illustrious son of Nasarawa State whose contributions to national service had earned him respect across the country. It argued that attempts to discredit him would not diminish the support he enjoys among the people.
According to the statement, the people of Nasarawa State are looking forward to electing a leader with compassion, capacity, and character in the 2027 governorship election.
The council advised Dr. Aliyu Bello to concentrate on addressing the internal challenges facing the APC instead of attacking political opponents. It also maintained that the era of imposing candidates and recycling failed politicians was coming to an end, expressing confidence that the people of Nasarawa had already made up their minds.
