PDP Chieftain Backs NDC, Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket for 2027

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Anselm Ijebor, has called on Nigerians to support the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 general elections, describing the party and its presidential candidate as a credible alternative capable of providing effective leadership for the country.

Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Abuja, Engr. Ijebor said the NDC is made up of experienced and tested politicians with proven records of public service and integrity. He urged Nigerians to place their trust in the party, noting that its leaders have consistently demonstrated commitment to national cohesion, unity, teamwork, and development.
According to the construction and building engineer, the NDC offers a credible platform to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges and deliver responsible governance. He highlighted the party’s leading figures, including Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Senator Seriake Dickson, describing them as individuals who have distinguished themselves through years of public service. He added that the party’s flag bearer possesses verifiable credentials and a proven track record, stressing that the NDC is built on the principles of accountability, consistency, and service to the people.
While expressing regret over the deepening crisis within the PDP, which he said has led to the party’s near collapse, Engr. Ijebor urged Nigerians to consider the NDC as a viable alternative ahead of the 2027 elections. He expressed confidence that the party has the capacity to provide the leadership needed to move the country forward.
On national issues, Engr. Ijebor described Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North Senatorial District, as a courageous politician who genuinely cares about Nigerians. Reacting to Oshiomhole’s criticism of the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, he said the senator demonstrated statesmanship by questioning the approval of 20 new road projects while many existing federal highways remain in deplorable condition.
He noted that Oshiomhole had argued the minister “needs to be guided” for prioritising new road projects despite the poor condition of major highways linking Benin, Warri, Asaba, Auchi, and Okene, which he described as dangerous death traps. Engr. Ijebor also criticised the minister for giving preference to new road construction instead of rehabilitating existing federal roads, describing the approach as not being in the overall interest of Nigerians.
He, however, urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, expressing optimism that the country’s current challenges would eventually be addressed. He maintained that the NDC’s presidential candidate would restore the confidence of Nigerians, describing the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso joint ticket as a pathway to resolving many of the nation’s problems.
According to Engr. Ijebor, what Nigeria needs at this time is leadership capable of delivering the dividends of democracy to all citizens, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation. He argued that neither religion nor ethnicity should determine electoral choices, noting that the Nigerian Constitution does not prohibit either a Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian presidential ticket.
