FG. Steps Up Fight Against Poverty With Skills, Starter Packs

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing poverty by equipping vulnerable Nigerians with vocational skills and starter packs to promote self-reliance.


Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr.
Bernard Doro, stated this at the graduation ceremony of the first batch of beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Vocational and Skills Training Programme in Abuja.

Doro said the initiative was designed to provide sustainable solutions to poverty through skills acquisition and economic empowerment.
The National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency, NSIPA, Dr. Badamasi Lawal, disclosed that the training was conducted in 230 accredited centres across the country, covering vocational, technical and financial literacy components.
National Programme Manager of N-Power, Dr. Nsikak Okon, urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the starter packs, stressing that their utilisation would be monitored.
Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Federal Government, saying the skills and starter packs they received would help them expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
