FRSC Boss Tasks COs On Effective Traffic Management

The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, has called on commanding officers to rise to the occasion and develop solutions to address emerging challenges in effective traffic management across the country.

Addressing the opening of a two-day training programme for management staff and commanding officers in Abuja, Mallam Shehu Mohammed said current realities demand leadership that is proactive rather than reactive.

According to the FRSC boss, the road safety environment in the country is becoming increasingly complex due to population growth, urbanisation, and expanding mobility patterns.

He charged the commanding officers to provide clear direction, deploy resources wisely, and ensure that every decision results in measurable improvements in road safety.

He reminded them that road safety cannot be achieved through enforcement alone, stressing that commanding officers must forge stronger partnerships with stakeholders.

“Our authority must embrace technology that improves enforcement, emergency response, information management, and data analysis.”

Mallam Shehu Mohammed also emphasised the need to build competent personnel, mentor the next generation of leaders, and create an institutional culture where excellence is expected and responsibility is embraced.

The Training Coordinator, Professor Nasirudeen Usman, said the training and retraining of officers are necessary to bring about sanity on Nigerian roads.

Professor Usman commended the FRSC Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, for giving special attention to enhancing the capacity of officers for effective traffic management.

The two-day training, with the theme, “Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Enhanced Service Delivery in a Challenging Environment,” has over 250 commanding officers in attendance.
