Ekiti South APC primary ends in dramatic fashion as Senate spokesman Adaramodu polls 12,200 votes to clinch the senatorial ticket ahead of rivals.
The spokesperson of the Nigerian Senate, Yemi Adaramodu, has emerged winner of the keenly contested All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Ekiti South Senatorial District after polling 12,200 votes to secure the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adaramodu defeated notable political figures in the contest, including former Senate Minority Leader, Biodun Olujimi, who scored 7,420 votes, and former House of Representatives member, Bamidele Faparusi, who garnered 5,502 votes.
Speaking after the exercise, the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee, Adedoyin, said the election was conducted in accordance with the constitutional provisions and electoral guidelines of the party. He explained that Adaramodu met all constitutional and party requirements and also recorded the highest number of valid votes cast during the primary.
Adedoyin added that the outcome of the election demonstrated the strong confidence and support Adaramodu enjoys among APC delegates across the Ekiti South Senatorial District.
Following the announcement of the results, Adaramodu was officially declared and returned as the APC senatorial candidate for Ekiti South ahead of the next senatorial election.
Political analysts have described the victory as a significant boost to Adaramodu’s rising political influence within the APC in Ekiti State, especially given the high-profile opponents he overcame in the closely fought primary contest.
