After Federation Cup Campaign, Kogi United Eyes NNL Qualification with Renewed Determination
Kogi United Football Club has called on the Kogi State Government, football enthusiasts, and supporters to continue providing the team with the necessary support as it prepares for the Nigeria National League (NNL) promotion playoffs.
The appeal was made by the club’s Team Manager, Michael Itodo Olachene, who expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, and the club’s supporters for their unwavering encouragement throughout the Federation Cup campaign.
Olachene noted that Kogi United emerged champions of the Kogi State Federation Cup and proudly represented the state at the national stage. However, the team’s journey in the competition came to an end following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Plateau United FC in their final match.
Despite the setback, he praised the players for their resilience, commitment, and discipline, stressing that the club remains proud of its performance and has no reason to be discouraged by the result.
According to him, the club has now shifted its attention to securing promotion to the Nigeria National League and requires the same level of support from government, stakeholders, and fans to achieve that objective.
He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to excel in the forthcoming qualifiers and urged football lovers across the state to rally behind the club as it pursues a place in the NNL.
Olachene reiterated that with sustained encouragement and support, Kogi United can successfully attain promotion and continue making the state proud on the national football scene.
