The Adamawa State Interim Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has welcomed the judgment of the Court of Appeal nullifying the party’s National Caretaker Committee and affirming earlier court decisions that upheld the suspension of A.

K. Ajibade, SAN, Sam Anyawu, and others.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Chairman of the Interim Caretaker Committee, Stephen Heluwa, described the judgment as a significant victory for the rule of law, internal democracy, and the supremacy of the PDP Constitution.
The committee stated that the appellate court’s ruling reaffirmed that discipline and compliance with party regulations remain fundamental to constitutional democracy. It added that the judgment also validated the decision of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to suspend the affected officers.
According to the statement, the judicial pronouncement, which it said aligns with an earlier position of the Supreme Court, has completely removed any remaining claim to legitimacy by the suspended individuals.
The Adamawa PDP maintained that Ajibade, Anyawu, and their associates no longer hold any official position within the party, stressing that any actions, statements, or representations made by them in the name of the party are illegal, null, and void.
The committee further declared what it described as the end of “the era of manufactured factionalism and distractions,” noting that the judiciary had spoken clearly and left no room for uncertainty.
It said the judgment was not only a victory for H.E. (Dr.) Kabiru Tenimu Turaki, SAN, and the 13-man Interim National Working Committee (INWC), but also for party members who believe in the supremacy of institutions over individuals.
“We are a party built on laws, not egos,” the statement said.
The Adamawa PDP called on all loyal, committed, and law-abiding members, stakeholders, and the general public to recognize and align with the leadership headed by H.E. (Dr.) Kabiru Tenimu Turaki, SAN, which it described as the legally recognized leadership of the party.
The committee also appealed to aggrieved members to set aside their grievances, respect the rule of law, and return to the party.
It added that with legal clarity now established, the PDP should focus on building a strong and united platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The statement concluded by expressing the party’s readiness to engage the electorate and work towards what it described as the liberation of the nation.
