A Nigerian woman based in the United Kingdom has said she would not return permanently to Nigeria, even if offered £15 million, citing the loss of two children to alleged medical negligence.

The woman, who identified herself as an indigene of Ogun State, made the disclosure during a video interview shared on X by user #DammieDammie.
Responding to a question on whether she would accept £200,000 to relocate permanently to Nigeria without returning to the UK, she declined, stressing that financial reasons were never behind her decision to leave Nigeria.
According to her, the interviewer raised the offer successively to £300,000, £500,000 and eventually £15 million, but she maintained her position. “Unfortunately, I didn’t migrate from Nigeria because of money,” she said, adding, “You can’t even pay me enough to go back.”
Explaining her decision, the woman revealed that she lost two children in consecutive years due to what she described as medical negligence in Nigeria. She declined to go into details, saying the experience remained too painful to discuss. She also claimed that doctors in the UK often expressed disbelief whenever she recounted how her children died.
The woman further credited the UK’s healthcare system with saving the life of her son, saying she believed he might not have survived if he had been born in Nigeria because of the level of medical care he received in the UK. While acknowledging that medical errors also occur in the UK, she insisted such cases were far less frequent than in Nigeria. Her comments have since sparked debate on social media over the state of Nigeria’s healthcare system and the factors driving migration.
