Teen Gunman Kills Grandparents, Teachers, Classmates Before Taking Own Life
A 14-year-old secondary school student has allegedly killed his grandparents, three teachers and three fellow students before taking his own life in a shooting incident in Thailand’s Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province.
Police said the teenager first used his grandfather’s handgun to shoot and kill his grandparents before heading to Debsirin Nonthaburi School, located on the outskirts of Bangkok, where he opened fire on teachers and students. Several other people were also injured during the attack.
Nonthaburi Provincial Police Commander, Lt. Col. Dechrapee Kongdee, confirmed that the suspected gunman, a ninth-grade student, later died by suicide. Police said he fired 26 rounds during the attack, while another 34 rounds of ammunition were recovered at the scene.
The Debsirin School is part of a network of secondary schools founded by the Thai royal family and has produced several prominent alumni, including former prime ministers, scholars and writers. Authorities said the school had about 3,100 students and 147 teachers during the 2025 academic year.
The incident is Thailand’s second school shooting this year, following a February attack in the country’s south that left a teacher dead and a student injured. Interior Ministry Permanent Secretary Arsit Sampantharat said the student remained inside the school after the shooting before police secured the premises.
Eyewitnesses said students took cover inside classrooms as gunshots rang out from another section of the school. They were later evacuated safely after police officers entered the building and cleared escape routes.
